MANCHESTER — The Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL) and city police announced this week the 13th Annual Footrace for the Fallen will be held Sunday, Oct. 6.
The race will start in front of the Manchester Police Department at 405 Valley St. and end inside Gill Stadium, 396 Valley St.
Bib pick-up begins at 8:30 a.m. on race day, and the race starts at 10:15 a.m. Registration is $25 online or $30 day-of for youth (ages 17 and younger), and $30 online or $35 day-of for adults (ages 18 and older). All ages and abilities are welcome.
The race honors Manchester’s officers who were killed in the line of duty — Sgt. Henry McAllister, Inspector William Moher, Officer Ralph Miller and Officer Michael Briggs.
Proceeds from the race will benefit MPAL, a center-city organization that brings cops and kids together through athletic and enrichment programs to build champions inside and outside the gym.
A donation will also be made to the Hundred Club of NH, which provides scholarships and financial assistance to the widows and children of New Hampshire law enforcement officers and firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The first 500 people to register will receive a free race shirt. After participants cross the finish line on the football field, they are invited to enjoy time with friends and family with food, drinks, music, massages, awards and more.
“We are excited to be hosting the Footrace for the Fallen presented by Anthem once again as a way to remember our fallen officers and support the at-risk youth that MPAL serves,” said Ariel Kapteyn, MPAL’s director of marketing and the co-race director. “The race continues to grow in size and fun every year, and this year will be no exception. We can’t wait to see everyone on Oct. 6th.”
This year’s race is supported by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Members First Credit Union, Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Becket Family of Services, Granite State Police Career Counseling LLC, Bedford Physical Therapy, the DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown hotel, Consolidated Communications, Macy Industries, Comcast, Ace Realty Group, Interim HealthCare, Veteran & First Responder Healthcare, Orangetheory Fitness Manchester, Shamrock 47 Design, American Medical Response, Harpoon Brewery, Bonfire Country Bar, Oakhurst Dairy, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England, Hannaford Supermarkets, Thin Blue Line USA, AAA Police Supply, Body Armor Outlet, and Cafe la Reine.
