Courtesy Girl Scouts will converge on Bedford this weekend for the annual G.I.R.L. Expo.

BEDFORD — Girl Scouts from all over New Hampshire will gather this weekend to explore life skills through interactive activities.

The annual G.I.R.L. Expo is open to the public and offers hands-on exhibits, workshops and performances for people of all ages, according to Ginger Kozlowski with Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains.

“There are about 100 exhibitors that will be on hand all day,” she said, adding most activities will appeal to children ages 5 to 18.

The expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the New Hampshire Sportsplex in Bedford. Admission is $5.

“There is definitely something for everyone — boys and girls and the whole family,” said Kozlowski.

The event will focus on STEM activities, including the unveiling of the Girl Scouts’ new STEM-on-the-go van. Nearly $150,000 was raised to purchase and outfit the van, which provides Girl Scouts with a 3D printer, smart TV monitor, Surface tablets, microscopes and mobile broadband.

“Girl Scouts is committed to providing this learning opportunity to girls everywhere,” said Kozlowski.

Also on hand at the G.I.R.L. Expo will be a STEM zone area, top pastry chef competition, obstacle course, line dancing, archery, mountain biking and painting opportunities.

Robotics, rocketry and other hands-on activities will be featured, as well as an augmented reality watershed table, green-screen photo booth and SubZero’s liquid nitrogen-made ice cream.

“Girls will get the chance to try new things, challenge themselves in new ways and discover ways to build their confidence while having fun,” Patricia Mellor, CEO of Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains, said in a statement.

It also provides an opportunity for children and their families to connect with each other and explore the different offerings through Girl Scouting.

A massive inflatable whale is expected to be the center of attention, as well as a 24-feet rock climbing wall and tent set-up challenge, according to Kozlowski, who is hoping for a great turnout during Saturday’s festivities.
