New state program to better prepare those leaving psych hospital beds

Health and Human Services Commissioner Lori Shibinette announced creation of a program to help better prepare those in a psychiatric hospital bed for transition back into the community. She said this Critical Time Intervention effort could reduce the number of people who end up being readmitted back into a treatment bed.

CONCORD — A new state-run support program should reduce the number of patients who need readmission to a psychiatric hospital setting, according to state officials.

Critical Time Intervention (CTI) will be a no-cost, intensive care plan designed to help better prepare those scheduled for discharge from an in-patient psychiatric bed.
