MFD Respond To Car Fire

A car caught fire after running over a mattress that fell from another vehicle on I-93 South in Manchester on Saturday. The female driver and her two children escaped unharmed.

MANCHESTER — A mother and her two children were able to escape from their car after it caught fire Saturday afternoon on Interstate 93.

The mother was driving on I-93 southbound when she ran over a mattress that had been dropped in the road by an unknown vehicle, District Fire Chief Mike Gamache said.

“She was able to get (the two children) out of the car and bystanders came over to assist,” he said.

By the time firefighters arrived on scene, the car was fully engulfed in flames. No one was injured in the incident.
