Manchester fire officials say one man suffered scrapes and bruises when a car crashed through the front of Blake’s Restaurant and Ice Cream at 353 Main St. around 12:40 p.m. Sunday.

According to Manchester Battalion Chief Bob Beaudet, the car left the roadway, jumped the curb, went through a fenced-in area in front of the restaurant, and crashed through the main entryway to the popular eatery, which was open and serving customers at the time.

Two men were leaving through the opposite exit door of the restaurant at the time of the crash, and one of them suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and was evaluated at the scene, officials said.

Damages to the restaurant were extensive. Blake’s was closed Sunday night, and an employee reported the restaurant may be closed again Monday before reopening on Tuesday.
