FARMINGTON -- A local man has been identified as the victim of Thursday night's house fire on Places Crossing Road.
The New Hampshire Medical Examiner's Office said Friday afternoon that Jeremy Tufts, 42, died as a result of "inhalation injuries."
Local police and firefighters responded to 68 Places Crossing Road about 9:40 p.m. after being asked to perform a welfare check, according to a news release.
Two occupants of the residence escaped unharmed, but Tufts was discovered as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
Investigation of the cause of the fire is ongoing by the state Fire Marshal's Office and the local police and fire departments, the release said.
Firefighters from Alton, Milton Middleton, New Durham and Rochester, as well as Frisbie Memorial Hospital paramedics, assisted at the scene.
