MANCHESTER — Police said a girl fell from a third-story window Monday night and was seriously injured.
Manchester police received a 911 hangup call at approximately 9:40 p.m. Monday. When officers arrived they discovered the child had fallen and was in need of medical attention.
Police tape and a window screen on the ground could be seen outside a home at 241 Thornton St. on the city’s West Side.
Police spokesman Heather Hamel said the girl was with her mother in a third-floor bedroom. Her mother was folding laundry on the edge of the bed. A window was opened to let in some cool air.
The girl pushed on the screen and fell out of the window and landed on the ground.
She was taken to nearby Catholic Medical Center, and then taken by helicopter to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
“This is not suspicious, just a tragic accident,” Hamel said in an email.
