CANDIA — A 78-year-old Goffstown man escaped serious injury Tuesday afternoon when his car crashed and rolled on Route 101 East, temporarily closing the road.
New Hampshire State Police Troop A responded at 2:55 p.m. to a reported accident. On arrival, troopers found the involved vehicle resting on its roof.
For reasons still under investigation, the 2007 Mazda left the road and continued into the center median, state police said. The momentum of the vehicle and the shape of the road caused it to roll and come to a rest on its roof, according to police.
The Mazda sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene. The male driver, who was not identified by authorities, was taken to Elliot Hospital, but did not suffer serious injuries, police said.
The left lane of Route 101 East was closed while emergency personnel cared for the man and cleared the roadway.

State police were assisted at the scene by Candia Police Department, Candia Fire and Rescue and American Medical Response.
