MANCHESTER — Traffic was at a standstill along Interstate 293 northbound Thursday, as state and local emergency personnel closed the busy highway to respond to a report of a pedestrian hit by a tractor-trailer along the highway.
As of 6 p.m., all lanes along I-293 northbound had reopened near Exit 6, but traffic remained heavy through the area, after a man exited a car and attempted to cross the busy highway. The man, whose name has not been released, was hit by a tractor-trailer. He was transported to Catholic Medical Center with serious injuries.
