LEBANON — Police have identified Michael R. Edwards, 49, as the man whose body was pulled from the Mascoma River on Tuesday morning.
Following an autopsy by the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, police say Edwards apparently drowned and his death does not seem to be suspicious.
A final determination on the exact cause and manner of his death is pending toxicology test results, according to a Lebanon Police Department statement.
Police say Edwards appears to have been homeless at the time of his death.
Police were first called about Edwards around 9 a.m. Tuesday, when someone reported that they saw what appeared to be a dead body in the river near 7 Foundry St., according to police. Police and Lebanon firefighters got to the area and spotted the man’s body.
It took firefighters until 11 a.m. to successfully retrieve the body from the river.
