Upon arrival, fire crews found an adult male unresponsive in a 52-inch-deep above ground pool, they said.
The man, whose name was not released Wednesday, was pulled out and CPR was performed. After repeated resuscitation attempts, which failed to produce a pulse, efforts to revive the man were halted and he was pronounced dead.
Merrimack police remained at the scene as of 7 p.m. Wednesday, Marsella said.
