SHELBURNE -- A Mendon, Mass., woman hurt her foot while hiking on Mount Moriah early Sunday night, and a Fish and Game ATV was deployed to help rescue her.
Fish and Game officials said Jill Duhaime, 43, was coming down the Carter-Moriah Trail when she stumbled on "loose material" and hurt her foot, rendering her unable to walk.
After she and her boyfriend determined they needed help, a family member called for aid at 5:30 p.m. and Gorham Police Department Dispatch relayed the message to Fish and Game officials.
A conservation officer responded. While Duhaime tried to get off the mountain by "scooting" down the trail, officials said, they decided to get the ATV to bring her the rest of the way, slightly over 2 miles. First responders arrived with Duhaime at the trailhead at 8:45 p.m.
After Gorham EMS personnel evaluated her, Duhaime declined an ambulance trip and went to a local hospital in a personal car, officials said.
