NASHUA — Police have identified the person killed after being hit by a car Wednesday evening on West Hollis Street as a 55-year-old Nashua resident.

Police said Richard Murphy was struck by a motor vehicle around 5:35 p.m. near the intersection of West Hollis Street and Norma Drive.

“The vehicle was being operated by a 46-year-old male who is cooperating with the investigation,” police said in a statement issued on Thursday. Police did not release the name of the driver in the press release.

Police said Murphy was deceased when officers arrived at the accident scene.

“The Nashua Police Collision Reconstruction Unit will be investigating the cause of this collision,” said the statement.

Traffic was delayed for about two hours on Wednesday while police secured the scene with yellow tape and collected evidence. A dark-colored sedan near Fotene’s Market at 717 W. Hollis St. had sustained significant damage to its front windshield from the collision.
