A fire early Monday morning burned down a home on Carley Road in Peterborough.

PETERBOROUGH — A fire early Monday morning destroyed an empty Carley Road home, fire officials said.

Nobody was injured in the blaze.

Fire Chief Ed Walker said a neighbor called 911 about 5 a.m. and the log-cabin home was fully ablaze when firefighters arrived.

No one was home when the fire broke out, Walker said. The home’s new owner had been renovating the empty home and was not living there, he said.

Firefighters set up a water relay station from an Old Street Road hydrant about a mile away as Carley Road does not have a water line, Walker said.

It took firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control.

An adjacent garage was saved.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Walker said. The home’s most recent assessed value was $117,000.
