Salem 7-Eleven

The front of 7-Eleven on Main Street in Salem suffered heavy damage when a pickup truck crashed into it, but nobody was injured, according to the Salem Fire Department.

SALEM -- A pickup truck drove into the front of the 7-Eleven at 123 Main St. in Salem Wednesday afternoon, heavily damaging the brick wall and shattering windows.

Battalion Chief Craig Lemire said they responded to a call for a vehicle into a building at 2:08 p.m., a short distance down the road from the fire station.

“That’s fairly close to our station, so we arrived on scene with Salem PD and found a pickup truck into the front of the store,” Lemire said.

Lemire said the male driver and sole occupant of the pickup was checked by a Salem ambulance but not transported for any injuries. Nobody inside the store was injured, either.

The truck was turned off and the driver was out of the vehicle by the time first responders arrived, Lemire said.

The fire department called the town building inspector and health inspector to check the damage. The business was advised to board up the outside front area and a section of the interior until everything is repaired. No utilities appeared to be affected.

“The whole front area is going to need to be fixed,” Lemire said.

Salem Police had no additional information about what caused the accident on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire department cleared the scene at 2:58 p.m.
