Fish and Game and Hooksett authorities search for a missing man in the Merrimack River on Wednesday afternoon.

HOOKSETT — Police recovered the body of a 24-year-old man from a vehicle in the Merrimack River on Thursday morning.

The search for the man began on Wednesday afternoon after the Pembroke Police Department received information that the man might be in the Merrimack River in Hooksett.

After the area was secured Thursday night, a dive team from New Hampshire Fish and Game located the man’s body inside the vehicle, which was submerged under 24 feet of water near the boat launch at Lambert’s Park.

Hooksett police do not believe that foul play was involved in the man’s death.

Details on the vehicle and the man were not immediately released and the Hooksett Police Department said it will not release the identity of the man until his family has been notified.

An autopsy will be performed on Friday.
