SUTTON -- Interstate 89 was closed briefly and traffic was reduced to one lane after a van left the highway and rolled over Friday morning, State Police said.
All of the passengers in the the 2004 Chevy Express Van 2500, which crashed at mile marker 27.2 while heading north about 7 a.m., were taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with serious injuries, police said.
The most seriously hurt passenger was taken to the hospital via helicopter, closing the highway briefly while the victim was evacuated, according to a news release.
The driver of the van, John Cruz Aquaiza, 46, of Milton, Mass., was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock with minor injuries, police said.
According to the release, Aquaiza lost control of the van and veered off the highway to the left into the median, where the van rotated counterclockwise and rolled over, coming to rest on its passenger side against the wood line.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, police said, but speed appears to have been a factor.
State Police ask anyone who witnessed the crash or who has information about it to contact Trooper Eric Mercer at 223-4381 or Eric.Mercer@dos.nh.gov.
