STODDARD — In a chain-reaction crash that began with a deer running in front of the vehicle ahead of him, a Vermont man and a young passenger on a motorcycle suffered serious injuries Wednesday night.

Sean Barber, 45, of Wilmington, Vt., was operating a 2006 Harley-Davidson and was following Casey Accardi, 26, of Wellesley, Mass., about 9:47 p.m. on Route 9 when a deer bounded in front of Accardi’s Honda CRV, according to New Hampshire State Police.

“Despite her efforts, she still struck the deer,” they said.
