CLAREMONT — An 18-year-old woman survived a shotgun blast at a late-night party, according to police.
The woman was at a gathering with her friends on River Road when another person at the party brought out a shotgun sometime during the early morning hours Thursday, according to Claremont Police Department’s Mark Chase. Someone fired off a shot from the shotgun and the blast hit the woman, Chase said.
The names of the victim and the shooter were not released on Thursday.
It’s not clear what kind of shot was fired from the gun, but the woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries from a projectile and burns to her lower body, said Chase.
The woman is receiving treatment for her burns and other injuries at an out-of-state hospital, he said.
