LET ME BEGIN by saying that I have been overwhelmed and humbled by, and am grateful for, the concerns and well wishes from all who took the time to call, write and verbally contact me, and to say I am grateful falls into the category of understatement of the year. THANK YOU!
Our goal is to get back on a regular schedule asap Lord willing if the body cooperates.
There are many events of interest coming up soon and here are a few to consider.
Saturday, Dec. 7: Christmas social at Henry J. Sweeney Post hall, 251 Maple St. in Manchester, at 1 p.m. All members and their families and guests are welcome as well as any interested parties. Refreshments provided.
Sunday, Dec. 8: The 78th memorial observance of the “day that will live in infamy.” Many veterans’ groups and individuals will participate in a tribute to those who gave it all in the attack that marked the start of U.S. involvement in World War II. The public is invited to join the ceremony at Arms Park on the Merrimack River at 11 a.m.
Monday, Dec. 9: Sweeney Post executive board meeting. All elected/appointed members are requested to participate. Start time is 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Dec. 11: Regular weekly “cheap eats” available at 5:30 p.m. at Sweeney Post. Public invited. Monthly meeting of Manchester Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8214 at Sweeney Post hall at 6 p.m. Members and interested guests welcome.
Sunday, Dec. 15: Free! Free! Annual Christmas concert by The Alumni Band of the New Hampshire National Guard at the Sweeney Post function hall at 7:30 p.m. You do not want to miss this performance of season favorites. Come early for best seats and bring the family! Did I mention free?
Tuesday, Dec. 17: The Freese Brothers Big Band will make its final appearance of 2019. A great presentation of holiday favorites by the fabulous group of professional musical talent. Free — as in Freese Brothers. It starts at 7:30 p.m. sharp. Did I mention free?
