Jude Farley of Derry, an incoming senior at Pinkerton Academy, has been selected to serve as a senator for American Legion Boys Nation in the Washington, D.C., July 23-30.
Boys Nation is an annual American Legion program that includes civic training, leadership development and a focus on Americanism.
Farley previously was elected Secretary of State at New Hampshire Boys State, which had roughly 30 participants. He also was elected Municipal Clerk and Party Clerk.
At Pinkerton Academy, Farley was elected student liaison to the school board and has served as president of Model UN and World Affairs Council. His activities include New Hampshire Legislative Youth Advisory Council, Math Team, Quiz Bowl, piano and tennis, as well as a political organizing fellowship.
He is a member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, National Foreign Language Honor Society, and he has been placed on high honor roll.
A resident of Derry, Farley is considering a career in politics, public policy and/or law.
During their eight days at American Legion Boys Nation, 100 “senators” will learn from a hands-on approach how the U.S. Senate and the federal government function.
