Eversource ESGR award

Eversource Energy has been recognized with the nation’s highest honor that recognizes employers’ support of their employees who have served in the military.

Eversource was one of 15 companies selected from 2,500 nominations to receive the 2019 Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.

Eversource Chairman, President and CEO Jim Judge accepted the award Friday at a ceremony at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our commitment to our veteran and military Reserve employees,” Judge said. “We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our Guardsmen, Reservists and veterans. Whether it be a time of peace, crisis or war, we will always recognize, thank and support our service members.”

Of Eversource’s 8,000 employees, more than 600 have proudly served in the military.

The energy company offers advancement programs that provide opportunities for employees to apply their military training in supervisory-level positions. In addition, the Eversource Veterans Association, made up of employees who have served our country, provides them with support and recognition and further raises funds to support veterans throughout New England.

The Defense Employer Support Freedom Award is administered by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense program that since 1966 has had the mission of nurturing relations and understanding between Reservists and civilian employers.Eversource transmits and delivers electricity and natural gas and supplies water to approximately 4 million customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
