Mental health summit planned
PEMBROKE — The Manchester VA Medical Center in partnership with the New Hampshire Army National Guard is holding a mental health summit with a focus on suicide prevention and access to behavioral health care.
The summit is Friday, with registration at 8 a.m., at the New Hampshire National Guard Edward Cross Training Complex, 722 Riverwood Drive, Pembroke.
The event includes a presentation on Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), a VA Video Connect (VVC) demonstration, a session titled Responding to Stigmatization: Ethical Considerations & Strategies for Health Professionals, a presentation by keynote speaker Buddy Carchide, and a Q&A session.
Tribute to mark 9/11
TILTON — The New Hampshire Veterans Home will commemorate the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America at a free public Patriot Day ceremony Wednesday at the Home. The event will include video tributes, readings and the playing of taps in memory of the nearly 3,000 people who perished in the attacks that targeted the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The main speaker will be Col. John Pogorek, commander of the 157th Air Refueling Wing at Pease Air National Guard Base.
The event will be preceded by a coffee social and meet-and-greet session in the Home’s town hall, starting at 10:15 a.m. The event begins at 11 a.m. The Home is located at 139 Winter St. in Tilton.
