Welding certification training available

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Military Talent Source LLC, which is based in Auburn, Maine, and aims to help service members and vets land civilian jobs, is announcing a training opportunity in the welding field.

A six-week program is being planned for those who would like to learn the trade and earn certification. The first two weeks are defined by intensive training on the fundamentals, with the help of a simulator. Over the next four weeks, trainees will gain hands-on experience. One training class will begin Jan. 6, and another will begin Feb 24. Classes run Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The training will take place at MEMA Technical Education Center in Brunswick, Maine. The opportunity is open to Guardsmen, Reservists, transitioning service members, veterans and civilians. Class size is limited to 20 to 30 students.

The cost of the training is $13,000. Funding options are available. The training is also GI Bill friendly for those who have GI Bill eligibility.

Everyone who completes the training will be given an interview at the Bath Iron Works shipyard in Bath, Maine, if they choose.
