Matchbox Players

The Matchbox Players’ mission is to ignite creativity and passion in literature and art throughout the Monadnock Region.

JAFFREY — A group of Monadnock theater actors, writers and directors don’t know what the show will be, but they know when the curtain will rise.

By the time they finish collaborating on a new script in just 29 hours, the show will go on at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Park Theatre’s River Street Theatre downtown.

This “play in a day” is a fundraiser by Matchbook Players, a fledgling community theater group named after Jaffrey’s long history making matchbooks and a mission to “ignite creativity and passion for literature and art in the community.” Paige Johnson is founder and executive director.

Anyone interested in being on stage or behind the scenes — acting, writing, directing or tech — can show up Saturday at 2 p.m. It’s like a brainstorming and audition all in one.

Audience tickets are $11. Purchase them online at theparktheatre.org or call 532-8888.
