Evil Dead the Musical

“Evil Dead the Musical” gleefully resurrects the campy cult horror films.

ROCHESTER - “Evil Dead the Musical” is slashing its way through the Rochester Opera House.

It's an even campier take on the gory horror movies “The Evil Dead,” “Evil Dead 2” and “Army of Darkness,” only it has lots of song and dance to help describe the trials of five college students who accidentally unleash an evil force in an abandoned cabin.

It's all up to Ash to save the day, with a chain saw and a sense of humor. There's a lot of jokes, songs such as “All the Men in My Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons,” and cheesy effects. Note: There is a splatter zone in the audience that gets cover in fake blood.

Show times for “Evil Dead the Musical at the theater inside the Rochester Opera Hall, 31 Wakefield St., are 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, as well as 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.
