Hook a prized catch during the Squam Canoe Classic

Enjoy some some recreational fishing during the fifth annual Squam Canoe Classic from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Squam Lakes Association, 534 Route 3, Holderness.

HOLDERNESS — Load up the canoe, kayak, float tube or another other human-powered watercraft and head out for Squam Lakes Association’s fifth annual Canoe Classic bass fishing tournament on Saturday.

The event is the first of two fishing programs designed to encourage fun on the water and some good-natured sportsmanship.

Participants, ranging in skill level from seasoned pros to amateur anglers, will test their skills against the fish and each other. (Lead-free tackle is a requirement.)

This is a catch-and-immediate-release event, so participants should be prepared to take a photo before returning fish to the water.

For more information or to register for the tournament, visit squamlakes.org or call 968-7336.
