DERRY — The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, is offering a three-week class, Active Parenting Your Young Child,” for parents, grandparents and caregivers who are raising children younger than 5.
Classes will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 14, 28 and Feb. 4, with a Feb. 11 snow date, at The Upper Room, 36 Tsienneto Road. Each session will cover specific aspects of the developing child as well as general parent education.
To register, call Michelle Moraros at 437-8477 ext. 22 or visit URteachers.org.
“Understanding the needs of a child, and how to address those, helps a parent with the approach to milestones their children are facing, like entering pre-school or simple redirection for challenging toddler behaviors,” said Moraros, the program coordinator.
“The class offers parents the ability to speak with other parents in the same situation and share common experiences,” she said.
Executive Director Brenda Guggisberg said, “As a family resource center, we recognized a need: families trying to parent while working and managing other activities. We have a judgment-free class that helps parents and caregivers gain simple techniques to manage the needs of young children.”
