CONTOOCOOK — With the Hopkinton State Fair, the hardest part of walking through the gates is deciding what to see — or eat — first.

As usual, there will be lots of options on the Contoocook fairgrounds throughout the long Labor Day weekend. So grab a gigantic doughnut (a fair must) and take in the sights, from jugglers and acrobats to demolition derby drivers and rodeo riders.

The fair will run from Friday through Monday, Sept. 3.

The Country Porch Stage is the place for mesmerizing fare, including The Impossible Hypnotist Show and The Vegas Show, both featuring Scott Christie; the Off the Wall comedy juggling team of Jason Tardy and Steve Corning; and the AudioBody mix of juggling, music, contortion and visuals.

Lots of good music is in store as well, including sets by Canyon Run and the Cheryl Arena Band.

Making a series of appearances throughout the weekend will be the Axe Women Loggers of Maine, Horses Horses Horses, the High Flying Pages Thrill Show, New Hampshire Cowboy Mounted Shooting, and DockDogs’ flying caninies.

All sorts of livestock shows and 4-H competitions are planned. Plus, check out artwork on display, including needlework, sewing, photography, crafts, paintings and more.

There also will be a truck and tractor pull Friday at 6 p.m.

Day passes are $12 for ages 13 to 59; $10 for those 60 and older; $8 for ages 3 to 12; and free for members of the military and children 35 months and younger.

Four-day passes are $29 for ages 13 to 59; $22 for ages 60 and older; $29 for ages 3 to 12; and free for children 35 months and younger.

There are separate fees for certain grandstand events. It’s $12 to $16 for the demolition derby at 7 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday and the rodeo show at 3 p.m. Monday.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday. Visit hsfair.org more information.
