To the Editor: Breaking the tax cap is terrible for Manchester.
As a taxpayer, I know we cannot afford municipal spending to keep increasing. Raising spending creates higher taxes. Higher taxes means more money comes out of my pocket every month.
Regrettably, Mayor Joyce Craig doesn’t understand that.
She thinks it is okay to override the tax cap, take more of our money, and then spend it in ways that still doesn’t give us the quality services we deserve.
Our city needs a sound fiscal policy, but to get there, we need to stop electing politicians like Joyce Craig who break the tax cap. Mayor Craig and the Board of Aldermen’s decision to allow for a budget that takes more from the working-class is exactly what I don’t want to see out of my leaders. It is time for someone new to represent me in City Hall. Someone who has a record of cutting taxes, reducing spending, and focusing on our priorities. That person is Victoria Sullivan and she has my complete support in her campaign for Mayor of Manchester.
