It’s fair time, in case you hadn’t noticed the mixed aromas of fried dough, cows and horses, and a few apple pies.
The Deerfield Fair began yesterday and runs through Sunday. It’s big on kids, families, and folks showing off their livestock, their pulling teams, and their blue ribbons.
As huge as the Deerfield Fair is, it has somehow managed to retain its family feeling. Lancaster and Hopkinton Fairs, now in the memory books for another year, have that feel as well.
In a blink, the Sandwich Fair will be here and wind up the fair season. It is held each year on Columbus Day weekend. (Translation for the PC crowd: that would be close to “Indigenous Peoples” Day.)
Go to the fair and enjoy yourself. Just mind where you step.
