The New Hampshire Veterans Count, part of an Easterseals New Hampshire effort to assist military veterans and their families, held its 13th annual golf fundraiser at Candia Woods this week.

Over that time, the golf event alone has raised more than $500,000 for the program.

But the program is still not known to all military families in our state. It should be.

Veterans Count offers assistance in areas about which we “civilians” might not think twice. We might not even consider National Guard or Reserve elements when we think of the military, but they have played an ever-more important role, especially since Sept. 11, 2001. And they are a big part of the military here.

When dad or mom is away on active duty, who is going to cut the grass or fix the leaking pipe or work overtime to pay for that unexpected bill?

That’s the type of need that Veterans Count helps fill here in New Hampshire.
