To the Editor: One of the biggest challenges Manchester has faced as a city is how we balance improving our schools in a fiscally responsible way. In this effort, Mayor Joyce Craig has succeeded, and continues working to improve our schools without breaking the bank.

In May, the mayor proposed a budget that featured the greatest increase in school funding since 2006. In her focus on school funding, she shows that she is prioritizing students and investing in their future and the future of our city.

Mayor Craig has continued to advocate in Concord for additional funding to strengthen our schools, while also finding ways to ease the burden on Manchester taxpayers. Mayor Craig knows that budget building is a give and take process. Because of her innovation and leadership, she has produced real results that the people of Manchester recognize.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Mayor Craig will continue to improve schools for our students. Improving our schools will greatly impact Manchester’s future.
