Bipartisan redistricting

To the Editor: Our elected officials in New Hampshire are on to something—they’re working together to pass bipartisan legislation that benefits all New Hampshire citizens, not just one party. Nowhere is this collaborative approach more apparent than a bill that would establish an independent redistricting commission for drawing our state’s electoral maps. Our districts should not be skewed to favor one party over the over. To have fair and equal elections, our district maps need to be fair and equal. Republican and Democrat leaders have worked across party lines to advance this bill, which has now passed in the House and Senate with bipartisan support. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of this collaborative approach to policy in the future.
