To the Editor: A 9/17/19 article reported a woman who has allegedly mistreated 31 dogs is proposed to walk away with a slap on the wrist. The New Hampshire Society for the Protection of Animals spent $616,978.98 to care for the animals she allegedly abused. It is proposed she gets a suspended sentence and pay no financial penalty or compensation to the NHSPCA. That is just plain outrageous. It means that the NHSPCA would have to go back to its volunteers and funders and say our legal system failed them.
It also has to report that people like this alleged abuser get away with it with a suspended sentence.
The Grafton County attorney is not doing justice.
