Right to sanction over prescribing ivermectin

To the Editor: As a retired nurse executive, I read today’s article about the system grinding to a halt. During my 40 years, we went through some tough times, including the early days of AIDS. As bad as it was, it didn’t come near what the medical staff is going through and my heart goes out to them.

What disturbed me was Sen. Maggie Hassan’s dismissal of Dr. Alan Flanigan’s suggestion that physicians who prescribe ivermectin should be sanctioned. Of course they should and, quite frankly, I think they should lose their license and any nurse who follows an order and administers it should also lose theirs.

By not sanctioning, patients can suffer serious consequences including death. Get with it, Sen. Hassan.
