To the Editor: Over the past year the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act has gained a large increase in support. This includes endorsements from federal representatives and members of the public.
This act proposes placing a $15 fee on carbon at the source and raising it by $10 each year.
This money would then be returned equally among households to help pay for cleaner energy sources.
But a rallying of support is still needed to push this bill further.
To get the bill into a spot for serious consideration by the federal government, the public must demand action for climate change.
This includes supporting bills like this that will make a positive impact on both the economy and the environment.
As seen in the recent youth climate strike, many Americans care about the future of the climate and this planet.
In order to support this we must increase efforts to push the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act.
