Thank you Gov. Sununu

To the Editor: During the recent legislative session there was an immediate attempt to recall a law that was changed just two years ago. I am thankful for the Governor’s veto of a partisan attempt to make it so non-New Hampshire residents vote in New Hampshire elections.

I am not averse to these individuals voting, they very much should and I encourage them to do so.

I am of the belief that people who are voting on New Hampshire laws are staying in New Hampshire for the long haul. When we vote on representation, their choices will affect residents for years, far beyond a student’s stay in college. I welcome any of those students to join the great state of New Hampshire and will love to engage in political discussion about where we are as a state and where we should go. But there is a reason we are the State of New Hampshire. We don’t let Massachusetts’ or Vermont’s government decide our laws, we shouldn’t allow their residents to make those choices for us either.
