To the Editor: I’m a retired USAF nurse who entered service as a divorced mother of two kids for several reasons, foremost being the need for affordable healthcare. I served over 20 years and don’t regret a minute — it was the best thing I ever did for my family.
I am also a local political activist and incredibly proud of the caliber of our Democratic candidates for President. However, one stands out above the rest for me: Elizabeth Warren.
She and I have a lot in common. We both grew up poor, of middle-class origins and both our families have strong military backgrounds. We both married and had kids young. We both worked hard to improve ourselves and our situations. We both believe that good, affordable health care should be the right of all Americans.
That is why I’m excited to have her as a candidate who has a viable plan to provide just that and a record of achievement that promises she will deliver.
I support Elizabeth Warren’s candidacy since I know she can relate to the middle class and will work tirelessly and fight hard to protect our rights and implement the health care we need. We deserve a President we can look up to and who will fight to sustain middle class values and provide the health care veterans and all Americans need.
