Use Planned Parenthood money elsewhere
To the Editor: If legislators are looking for a way to help fund the needs of our state, they need look no further than the $1 million-plus in increases in funds to Planned Parenthood.
The Senate budget would almost triple funding in 2020 over 2018 expenditures to Planned Parenthood — $3,492,168 from $1,260,946.
Indeed, $800,000 could be eliminated from the budget because the federal government is funding directly that amount to Planned Parenthood.
I certainly hope my fellow legislators put that excessive funding for Planned Parenthood to better use.
Take that money and use it for building security in our schools to protect our children. Use that money for those red-listed bridges that require 80% state money and 20% local money.
How about it?
Don’t grow government, put that money to good use.
