Vote against HB 632

To the Editor: Like wolves circling their prey, the sponsors of House Bill 632 have decided to attack.

If this bill passes it will effectively repeal the education tax credit that helps fund a school-choice program for low- and moderate-income families. Sadly, if this bill passes, their sharpened fangs will tear into low-income families that are trying to do the best for their children’s education.

This wonderful program allows families that cannot afford private schooling to have that opportunity.

Even more disturbing is the fact that 30 percent of the recipients of these funds are non-white families.

It would be very hard to find another bill in New Hampshire that so blatantly attacks minorities.

The sponsors of this bill, Joelle Martin, Mary Beth Walz, Cindy Rosenwald, Jeanne Dietsch and David Luneau, to name a few, will have you believe that they know what is best for your child.

They claim separation of church and state but their real goal is to take away your freedom and your choice.

Why should the choice of private schools only be offered to the elite that can afford it?

Finally, eliminating this program will cost us money on both the state and local levels.

Every student that participates in this program saves the state an average of $3,000.

If you are a low-income or minority voter, take note of the sponsors of this bill as they don’t have your best interest at heart.
