To the Editor: I’ve lived here in the Granite State my whole life and I’ve seen legislators in Concord try some pretty ridiculous things. But never have I seen a legislature so unabashedly champion an income tax as New Hampshire Democrats are currently doing. They are trying to be cute by disguising their income tax as a paid family leave program.
New Hampshire’s economy is currently thriving, but it’s no secret that it’s only a matter of time before the national economy sees a bit of a downturn. With egregious policies coming out of Concord that cut the bottom line right out from under Granite State families, that downturn becomes only more likely.
The Democratic legislature’s income tax is nothing more than a backwards policy intended to score a few political points. The fact of the matter is clear though — Democrat attempts to pass an income tax is wrong for our families, it’s wrong for our economy and it’s wrong for New Hampshire.
