The Boston Celtics entered Tuesday night's NBA draft lottery with a shot at nabbing two of the top-14 picks in this summer's draft, but by the time the ping pong balls were drawn they were left with just one -- No. 14.
The pick comes courtesy of a three-team trade with the Sacramento Kings and Philadelphia 76ers that saw the Celtics move down from No. 1 overall to No. 3 in the 2016 draft, where they selected Jayson Tatum.
Boston also had a chance at the Memphis Grizzlies' pick had it fallen outside of the top-8, but Memphis jumped all the way up to No. 2, thus keeping the choice.
The New Orleans Pelicans won the lottery and will select first on June 20. The Celtics will be armed with three first-round picks: No. 14, No. 20, via the Los Angeles Clippers, and No. 22.
