It was a big Monday for the University of New Hampshire and quarterback Max Brosmer.

On the same day the Wildcats returned to the STATS FCS Top 25 — they are 25th — Brosmer was named the CAA Football Rookie of the Week as well as a recipient of the New England Football Writers/Grinold Chapter Division I Gold Helmet Award.

Brosmer, a freshman from Georgia, was 10-for-10 passing in the second half, with two touchdowns, as the Wildcats rallied past Villanova 28-20 last Saturday. For the game, he recorded career highs in completions (25), passing yards (276) and TD passes (three).

UNH (5-3 overall, 4-1 in the CAA) was last ranked on Oct. 14, at No. 22. The ‘Cats hit the road Saturday for a major challenge: at No. 2 James Madison.

Dartmouth up to 13th

Dartmouth jumped one spot, to 13th, in the STATS poll. The Big Green pulled one at Harvard Stadium last Saturday, winning 9-6 on a Derek Kyler’s 43-yard Hail Mary pass on the game’s final play. Next up for Dartmouth is the showdown the Ivy League has been waiting for: a Yankee Stadium contest on Saturday against fellow unbeaten Princeton.
