Freshman guard Kari Brekke scored 11 points to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team in a 69-36 loss to Maine on Wednesday night in an America East tournament quarterfinal game at Cross Insurance Center.
The loss closed out the UNH season. The Wildcats finished with an overall record of 6-24. They were 3-13 and the No. 8 seed for the league tournament.
Maine, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, is 23-7 overall and advances to a semifinal round match against No. 4 seed UAlbany on Sunday in Orono. The Black Bears are the defending tournament champions.
The Wildcats played their 15th game without their leading scorer, junior forward Ashley Storey.
Senior forward Tanesha Sutton had 24 points and 12 rebounds for Maine, Junior guard Blanca Millan added 19 points.
