Concord’s Veronyca Daniels scored four goals and Amherst’s Meghan Allard made 10 saves to lead the Plymouth State University women’s lacrosse team to a 12-7 win over visiting Southern Maine on Sunday in the championship game of the Little East Conference tournament.
The crown was the third straight and eighth overall for the Panthers (11-5), who secured the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
Sarah Thompson of Hooksett added two goals and an assist, and Goffstown’s Sydney Dubois scored once and had four draw controls and three caused turnovers.
SNHU the top seed in NE-10 baseball
The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team swept Merrimack in a doubleheader on Saturday and earned the top seed for the upcoming Northeast-10 Championship.
The Penmen, 36-11, clinched a fourth straight Northeast-10 Northeast Division title and will host Franklin Pierce on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Ravens are seeded fourth in the Northeast bracket.
UNH's Gajewski an America East track champ
Danville’s Danielle Gajewski, a fifth-year senior at UNH, captured her seventh individual America East track and field championship on Sunday.
Gajewski took gold on the 800-meter run, finishing in 2 minutes, 7.81 seconds.
The Wildcats took fifth out of nine teams. Albany won team honors.
Dartmouth gets Whalen 600th win in season finale
The Dartmouth College baseball team scored six runs in the sixth inning, capped by Ubaldo Lopez’ three-run homer, in a 6-1 victory over Cornell in a season finale on Sunday at Red Rolfe Field in Hanover.
The victory was coach Bob Whalen’s 600th at Dartmouth.
The Big Green finished 15-26 overall, 8-13 in the Ivy League.
