Sunday night, the shots went in for the Dartmouth hockey team.

The Big Green exploded for five goals in the second period and routed St. Lawrence 8-0 at Thompson Arena to win the rubber game of the best-of-three ECAC first-round playoff series.

The explosion came one night after the Big Green outshot St. Lawrence 60-24 in Game 2 and lost 3-2 in overtime. Saints goalie Daniel Mannella was spectacular, especially in the third period and overtime.

With Sunday’s triumph, fifth-seeded Dartmouth advanced to the ECAC quarterfinals next weekend at fourth-seeded Harvard. Games 1 and 2 are set for Friday and Saturday, with a Game 3, if necessary, to be played Sunday.

Will Graber scored a pair of goals and Adrian Clark made 22 saves for his program-record sixth shutout of the season. Dartmouth had 37 shots on two St. Lawrence goalies.
