Adelphi built a lead and hung on to beat Southern New Hampshire University 99-90 on Tuesday in a Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball game at Stan Spirou Field House in Manchester.

The Penmen, who trailed by 14 at halftime (49-35), whittled the deficit to four (88-84) on a Mikey Buscetto layup with 2:43 to play, but got no closer than that.

Eamonn Joyce scored 24 points, Shawn Montague 20 and Daquaise Andrews 18 for SNHU, which dropped to 10-8 overall and 6-7 in the NE-10. 

Ronnie Silva's 28 points led Adelphi (14-7, 8-5).

Women's basketball

SNHU 87, Adelphi 71: In Manchester, Kylie Lorenzen scored 22 points to lead the Penmen, who improved to 13-7 overall, 7-6 in the NE-10.

Men's hockey

SNHU 4, Assumption 4: In Hooksett, Andy Somerville's shorthanded goal at 12:25 of the third period enabled the Penmen to earn a tie. Charlie Davis, Chris Moquin and Joe Fiorino also scored for SNHU (9-6-4 overall, 5-3-3 in the NE-10).
