It’s back to work for several local college teams, including the UNH women’s basketball team, which hosts Courtney Banghart and Princeton today at 1 p.m. at Lundholm Gym.
Banghart, a former Souhegan High and Dartmouth standout, has coached Princeton to the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last nine years.
The Tigers have won six straight games and are 7-7 overall.
UNH, 3-9, last played on Dec. 21 in a 62-42 loss to Dartmouth.
The Big Green, meanwhile, return to action today (2 p.m.) at Boston College.
30th Ledyard Classic
If New Year’s Eve is around the corner, that means it’s time for the Ledyard Classic at Thompson Arena in Hanover. The 30th edition of the college hockey tournament begins today, with Dartmouth hosting Army tonight at 7 p.m. In the earlier game today at 4, Providence College and Brown, which are less than two miles apart, tangle.
On Sunday, the Big Green (4-6-1) play the 10th-ranked Friars at 7 p.m. Brown plays Army in the 4 p.m. game.
In last year’s tournament, Dartmouth tied Minnesota Duluth 2-2. But the Bulldogs won the shootout 2-1 to win the tournament, then went on to win the national title.
Dartmouth’s last outing was a 4-1 loss at Boston University on Dec. 14.
