Kerstin Matthews' Saint Anselm Hawks are picked to win the New England Women's Hockey Alliance.

Saint Anselm College is the favorite to repeat as New England Women’s Hockey Alliance champion.

As determined by the coaches around the conference, the Hawks, who finished 25-3-1 last season, garnered 25 points and five first-place votes in Thursday’s preseason poll. Sacred Heart amassed 21 points and the other first-place vote.

Franklin Pierce University comes in at No. 3 with Long Island University -- NEWHA’s newest member -- right behind the Ravens.

The Hawks begin the season Friday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. when they visit Post.

Women's soccer: Dartmouth 1, UNH 0

Dartmouth College’s Mollie McGorisk scored her third goal of the season to snap a scoreless tie in the 88th minute and the Big Green beat UNH 1-0 in women’s soccer on Thursday at Burnham Field in Hanover.

Dartmouth improved to 4-1 while UNH dropped to 3-4.

Wildcats goalie Cat Sheppard was busy all game with nearly half of Dartmouth’s shots being on goal (7-of-16). She saved six.

UNH had two shots on goal.

The Wildcats host Army on Sunday at 2 p.m.
